Mu’alim Al-Qur’an is a self-teaching and self-learning aid of the Qur’an based on modern media platforms. It encompasses all essential aspects of Qur’anic knowledge which is obligated to every Muslim. Its usage also extends to the conventional Qur’an schools as an aid to more efficient and richer learning experience. reducing learning cycle, increasing teaching capacity, and enhancing pupils’ knowledge of the Qur’an from just being learning to recite and memorize the Qur’an to understanding the recitation (tajweed) rules, meanings of the Qur’an, and the language of the Qur’an.

Development plan

The website www.mualim-alquran.com is the first stage of the development of Mu’alim Al-Qur’an. This first stage is a web-based solution that is accessible online for free through any internet appliance like a PC/Laptop (Mac or Windows), tablets (Apple or Android) and mobile phones (iPhone or Android). In all the appliances, the screen of this web-based Mu’alim Al-Qur’an adjusts perfectly and automatically to suit the appliance’s resolution.

In the second stage Mu’alim Al-Qur’an will be developed to a downloadable mobile application on both iPhone and Android platforms. This mobile app will be accessible offline and will enable users to access all the functionalities and content of the Mu’alim Al-Qur’an without the need to be online through WiFi or mobile data connectivity.

In the third stage Mu’alim Al-Qur’an will be developed to a built-in app in a dedicated branded tablet with all its functionalities and content, thus enabling its accessibility without the need of internet connectivity. Furthermore, the tablet will be equipped with a solar charger which will allow users to access Mu’alim Al-Qur’an without the need of external electricity supply.

Target Audience

Mu’alim Al-Qur’an is primarily intended for non-Arabic speaking Muslims who speak any of the following languages. Swahili, English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. The application is equally useful in self-teaching and self-learning of the Qur’an for any speakers of these languages.

Scope

Mu’alim Al-Qur’an includes the following six learning modules: (1) Foundation of Arabic alphabets, letters, and words based on standard Qaida Al-Noorania. (2) Recitation of the Qur’an word-by-word and verse-by-verse. (3) Rules of Tajweed in recitation. (4) Memorization of the Qur’an based on the standard memorization methodology of repetition and tracking progress. (5) The meaning of the Qur’an through translations. and (6) Arabic as the language of the Qur’an.

User’s Engagement

Mu’alim Al-Qur’an allows users to access the application for free through the browsers or mobile application in phones or tablets. The users have a choice to use the application anonymously without tracking their progress or by logging in with an email address and a password to keep track of their progress within a particular stage or between stages. Arabic Subjunctive introduces subordinate clauses and states dependent on preceding particles.
أَنْ an 'that' is often translated as 'to'.
li and hatta 'so that', 'until.
Qur'an rarely uses words like li-an, kay, and likay.
lan 'not'—a strong denial of the future formed originally from laan.
an la becomes alla; li cannot be negative.

تَأْمُرُونَنَا أَنْ نَكْفُرَ بِاَللهِ
you command us not to believe in God
أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ
do you think that you will enter paradise?
حَسِبُوا أَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ
They thought that there would be no mischief
جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا فِيهِ
He made the night for you to rest in.
لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا حَتَّى يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا
We won’t enter it till they leave it
Subjunctive actions involve main verb and time, followed by perfect tense without expectation.
مَا لَبِثَ أَنْ جَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٍ
soon he came with a roast calf

we know that you have told us the truth

NOTES ON an أَنْ
  1. Qur'an rarely uses prepositions with clauses, confined to ala and qadir.
  2. an is found in combination with both qabla /min qabli and bada / min ba di to form conjunctions meaning 'before' and 'after' respectively.
لنَفِذَ اَلْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبّي
the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord would be exhausted
  1. In some verses, negative after an is Ian, not la.
ظَنُّوا أَنْ لَنْ يَبْعَثَ اَللهُ أَحَدًا
they thought that God would not raise anyone

Rare use of an with perfect in factual statements.
anna uses accusative, followed by noun or pronominal suffix.

they bear witness that God forbade this
عَلِمُوا أَنَّ الْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ
they will know that the truth belongs to god

they know that it is the truth from their lord
كَانَ عاقِبَتَهُمَا أنَّهُمَا فِي النَّارِ
the consequence for both of them is that they will be in the fire
NOTES ON anna
  1. Normal sentence rules apply, accusative after anna is nominative.
  2. Prepositional predicate sentences prioritize subordinate clauses with indefinite subjects.
نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُكَذِبِينَ
we know that some of you will deny the truth
  1. Anna and first person singular pronominal suffix create anni and anna-ni, and anna-na.
  2. Qur'an uses bi-anna as a common phrase.
ذلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاَللهِ
that is because they disbelieve in God
ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُم قَومٌ لا يَعلَمونَ
that is because they are a people who do not

Subjunctive and accusative cannot be combined. an and anna frequently use indirect statements, sometimes subjecting the sentence.
وَأَنْ تَصَدَّقُوا خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ
for you to remit [the debt] as alms is better for you

يَسْـَٔلُكَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَـٰبًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا۟ مُوسَىٰٓ أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَرِنَا ٱللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ۚ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلْطَـٰنًا مُّبِينًا
Watu wa Kitabu wanakutaka uwateremshia kitabu kutoka mbinguni. Na kwa hakika walikwisha mtaka Musa makubwa kuliko hayo. Walisema: Tuonyeshe Mwenyezi Mungu wazi wazi. Wakapigwa na radi kwa hiyo dhulma yao. Kisha wakamchukua ndama kumuabudu, baada ya kwisha wajia hoja zilizo wazi. Nasi tukasamehe hayo, na tukampa Musa nguvu zilizo dhaahiri.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا ٱلْقِبْلَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنتَ عَلَيْهَآ إِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يَتَّبِعُ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِمَّن يَنقَلِبُ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ ۚ وَإِن كَانَتْ لَكَبِيرَةً إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَـٰنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلنَّاسِ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Na vivyo hivyo tumekufanyeni muwe Umma wa wasitani, ili muwe mashahidi juu ya watu, na Mtume awe ni shahidi juu yenu. Na hatukukifanya kibla ulicho kuwa nacho ila tupate kumjua yule anaye mfuata Mtume na yule anaye geuka akarejea nyuma. Na kwa yakini hilo lilikuwa jambo gumu isipo kuwa kwa wale alio waongoa Mwenyezi Mungu. Na Mwenyezi Mungu hakuwa mwenye kuipoteza Imani yenu. Kwani Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mpole kwa watu na Mwenye kuwarehemu.
فَرِحَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلَـٰفَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَرِهُوٓا۟ أَن يُجَـٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَنفِرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَرِّ ۗ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّا ۚ لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ يَفْقَهُونَ
Walifurahi walio achwa nyuma kwa kule kubakia kwao nyuma na kumuacha Mtume wa Mwenyezi Mungu. Na walichukia kupigana Jihadi kwa mali zao na nafsi zao, na wakasema: Msitoke nje katika joto! Sema: Moto wa Jahannamu una joto zaidi, laiti wangeli fahamu!
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمْ أَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ لَعْنَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
Hao malipo yao ni kuwa ipo juu yao laana ya Mwenyezi Mungu na ya Malaika na ya watu wote.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن لَّا يُشْرِكْنَ بِٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا يَزْنِينَ وَلَا يَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّ وَلَا يَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتَـٰنٍ يَفْتَرِينَهُۥ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِنَّ وَأَرْجُلِهِنَّ وَلَا يَعْصِينَكَ فِى مَعْرُوفٍ ۙ فَبَايِعْهُنَّ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُنَّ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Ewe Nabii! Watakapo kujia wanawake Waumini wanakuahidi ya kwamba hawatamshirikisha Mwenyezi Mungu na chochote, wala hawataiba, wala hawatazini, wala hawatawauwa watoto wao, wala hawataleta uzushi wanao uzua tu wenyewe baina ya mikono yao na miguu yao, wala hawatakuasi katika jambo jema, basi peana nao ahadi, na uwatakie maghfira kwa Mwenyezi Mungu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwingi maghfira, Mwenye kurehemu.
فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ
Hapo Mwenyezi Mungu akamleta kunguru anaye fukua katika ardhi ili amwonyeshe vipi kumsitiri nduguye. Akasema: Ole wangu! Nimeshindwa kuwa kama kunguru huyu nikamsitiri ndugu yangu? Basi akawa miongoni mwa wenye kujuta.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَآ أَسْخَطَ ٱللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
Hayo ni kwa sababu wao waliyafuata yaliyo mchukiza Mwenyezi Mungu na wakachukia yanayo mridhisha, basi akaviangusha vitendo vyao.
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا
Akasema: Mola wangu Mlezi nijaalie Ishara. Akasema Ishara yako ni kuwa hutasema na watu kwa masiku matatu, na hali ni mzima.
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ
Juu ya moyo wako, ili uwe katika Waonyaji,
وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَنَطْمَعُ أَن يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
Na kwa nini tusimuamini Mwenyezi Mungu na Haki iliyo tujia, na hali tunatumai Mola wetu Mlezi atuingize pamoja na watu wema?
وَلَن يُؤَخِّرَ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهَا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Wala Mwenyezi Mungu hataiakhirisha nafsi yoyote inapo fika ajali yake; na Mwenyezi Mungu anazo khabari za mnayo yatenda.
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا۟ بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِٱللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
Na Musa alipo waambia watu wake: Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu anakuamrisheni mchinje ng'ombe. Wakasema: Je! Unatufanyia mzaha? Akasema: Audhubil lahi! Najikinga kwa Mwenyezi Mungu nisiwe miongoni mwa wajinga.
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۚ بَلْ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
Au wanasema: Amekizua? Bali hichi ni Kweli iliyo toka kwa Mola wako Mlezi ili uwaonye watu wasio fikiwa na mwonyaji kabla yako; huenda wakaongoka.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ يَهْدِى لِلَّتِى هِىَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا
Hakika hii Qur'ani inaongoa kwenye ya yaliyo nyooka kabisa, na inawabashiria Waumini ambao wanatenda mema ya kwamba watapata malipo makubwa.
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِيَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Je! Hawaoni kwamba sisi tumeufanya usiku ili watulie, na mchana wa kuangaza. Hakika katika hayo zipo Ishara kwa watu wanao amini.
قُلْ هُوَ ٱلْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ
Sema: Yeye ndiye Muweza wa kukuleteeni adhabu kutoka juu yenu au kutoka chini ya miguu yenu, au kukuleteeni fujo la mfarakano, na kuwaonjesha baadhi yenu jeuri ya wenzao. Tazama vipi tunavyo zieleza Aya ili wapate kufahamu.
مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓا۟ أُو۟لِى قُرْبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Haimpasii Nabii na wale walio amini kuwatakia msamaha washirikina, ijapo kuwa ni jamaa zao, baada ya kwisha bainika kuwa hao ni watu wa Motoni.
وَمَا كَانَ ٱسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَآ إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥٓ أَنَّهُۥ عَدُوٌّ لِّلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَأَوَّٰهٌ حَلِيمٌ
Wala haikuwa Ibrahim kumtakia msamaha baba yake ila kwa sababu wa ahadi aliyo fanya naye. Lakini ilipo mbainikia kwamba yeye ni adui ya Mwenyezi Mungu, alijiepusha naye. Hakika Ibrahim alikuwa mwingi wa kuomba, mnyenyekevu, mvumilivu.
وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
Na humo tuliwaandikia ya kwamba roho kwa roho, na jicho kwa jicho, na pua kwa pua, na sikio kwa sikio, na jino kwa jino, na kwa majaraha kisasi. Lakini atakaye samehe basi itakuwa ni kafara kwake. Na wasio hukumu kwa yale aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, basi hao ndio madhaalimu.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Yeye ndiye aliye ifanya bahari ikutumikieni, ili kutokana na humo mpate kula nyama laini, na mtoe humo mapambo mnayo yavaa. Na unaona marikebu zikikata maji humo, ili mtafute fadhila yake, na mpate kushukuru.
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًا وَرُفَـٰتًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
Hayo ni malipo yao kwa sababu walizikataa ishara zetu, na wakasema: Hivyo tukisha kuwa mifupa na mapande yaliyo vurugika tutafufuliwa kwa umbo jipya?
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰيَـٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Hakika sisi tunatumai Mola wetu Mlezi atatusamehe makosa yetu, kwa kuwa ndio wa kwanza wa kuamini.
أَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْـًٔا
Je! Hakumbuki mwanaadamu ya kwamba tulimuumba kabla, na hali hakuwa chochote?
كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ وَأَنزَلَ مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فِيمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ فَهَدَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لِمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
Watu wote walikuwa ni umma mmoja. Mwenyezi Mungu akapeleka Manabii wabashiri na waonyaji. Na pamoja nao akateremsha Kitabu kwa Haki, ili kihukumu baina ya watu katika yale walio khitalifiana. Na wala hawakukhitalifiana ila wale walio pewa Kitabu hicho baada ya kuwafikia hoja zilizo wazi, kwa sababu ya uhasidi baina yao. Ndipo Mwenyezi Mungu kwa idhini yake akawaongoa walio amini kwendea haki katika mambo waliyo khitalifiana. Na Mwenyezi Mungu humwongoa amtakaye kwenye Njia Iliyo Nyooka.
قَالَ لَهُۥ مُوسَىٰ هَلْ أَتَّبِعُكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تُعَلِّمَنِ مِمَّا عُلِّمْتَ رُشْدًا
Musa akamwambia: Nikufuate ili unifunze katika ule uwongofu ulio funzwa wewe?
